Announcing the COBG & LUPEC Guest Bartender Program!

Whaddup y'all!

The COBG & LUPEC have partnered up with Ghost Plate & Tap to create our first ever 'Guest Bartender Program!'  Through this program any COBG and/or LUPEC members are invited to sign up for a 'Guest Bartending' shift at The Coupe bar (our private bar located inside Ghost Plate & Tap) where you can come in, write your own cocktails, and have a full bar all to your self in which to showcase you own cocktails and talents... and get this, we're gonna pay you to do it!

Guest Bartending shifts at The Coupe will be open as of February 1st and run Monday - Saturday 5-10pm, all that we ask is that you schedule your shift at least 2 weeks prior to the date.

We've tried to make this thing as easy as possible so to sign up here's all you need to do:

  • Pick a date and email Ken Kodys at coupebar@gmail.com
  • Write and submit 3 cocktails for your 'menu' for that evening
  • Invite everyone you know to come check you out

Ghost

For your shift The Ghost will pay you $100 cash, help promote your shift through their media outlets (Westword, Facebook,Twiter, Etc.), and enter your drinks into a monthly $350 drink contest. Of course, in addition to the $100 cash from The Ghost all tips you receive will be yours to keep so if you rally a decent crew your guest bartending shift at The Coupe could turn out to be a pretty decent night!

We at the COBG are extremely excited about this new program and look forward to seeing you all at The Coupe.  If you have any questions regarding the program please feel free to contact Ken Kodys who's heading up the program.

Cheers,

Fee Bros. Brunch

Happy New Year, COBG!

We know it's the 6th, but we're still recovering from our holidaze fog, so it's better late than never. We thinks we might have ingested one too many glass of spiked egg nog at the company party and wound up leaving our Christmas pants somewhere other than the floor of our bedroom. We're still looking...

But enough about us. Are you ready for a 2012 filled with COBG events?

We are. So to get started, we'd like to announce our January COBG event on Saturday, Jan. 21st at Noon, Joe Fee of Fee Bros. will be stopping by Lou's FoodBar for a brunch that will include 25 of you good people. It'll be informal, but Joe will discuss his bitters, his family, and the history of the brand.

Fee Bros History Brunch is open to the first 25 members who RSVP to THIS email. We will not be posting this on Facebook.

When: Saturday Jan. 21st @ Noon
Where: Lou's FoodBar @ 1851 West 38th Avenue, Denver

Now...where the hell were those pants??

'Competing in Competitions' Seminar with USBG Master Mixologist Bobby Gleason

Hey Gang!

There are still a few seats left for next weeks seminar on Competing in Cocktail Competitions so get your RSVPs in as soon as possible if you want to attend.   For all of you who took and passed Bar Smarts this year you are all now paid member of the COBG so if you are interested in attending please do not hesitate!

This really is going to be an incredibly educational class and I think is something everyone and anyone who's into cocktail competitions should try to attend.  I promise, just by attending this class everyone who attends from seasoned veterans to first timers will DRAMATICALLY improve their competition game.

In addition to the class we have some very big COBG news to share with you all so even if cocktail competitions aren't your thing but the COBG is, you might want to consider attending anyways... just sayin'.

Thanks everyone, hope to see you all on Tuesday!

Cheers,

Mike

Hello COBG!

COBG & LUPEC 'Competing in Competitions' seminar with USBG Master Mixologist Bobby Gleason

With an increasing number of cocktail competitions being held and an increasing number of Colorado bartenders winning national competitions, we thought it might be a good time to conduct a class on how to be competitive both locally and nationally and give Colorado bartenders the tools to kick ass in competitions. As you may know, the rules for competing on a national level can be much more strict than those held at the regional. However, most of us competing at the regional level haven't had access to information on how to compete nationally.

Well, that's about to change. We've invited USBG Master Mixologist Bobby Gleason to town for a hands-on class on competitive bartending. Bobby G. is one of 3 USBG certified master mixologists and is an expert in both the technical and liquid aspects of competing in a cocktail competition. Bobby has been both a technical and blind judge in numerous competitions and will be sharing with us what it takes to win. In addition, Bobby will be leading a panel discussion on competing in competitions along with our three of Colorado's national winners Bryan Dayton, Mark Stoddard, and Sean Kenyon.

You wont want to miss this event and its safe to say this will be one of the most educational, worthwhile, and eye opening event the COBG has ever held. Space will be limited to the first 40 people to RSVP and is exclusively for paid USBG and/or LUPEC members only.

For Ladies Only!

Ahem...we said, "FOR LADIES ONLY!" Gentlemen, please close your email client and return to your manscaping.

Ladies! This one's just for you...

LUPEC (Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails) is pleased to announce the new Denver chapter devoted to the service and liquor industry women in the Colorado Cocktail Community. LUPEC is dedicated to preserving, promoting and encouraging women in the spirits industry and "to create a secular "coven-like" atmosphere in which Classy Broads of today can invoke and honor the spirits of their Forebroads."

LUPEC Denver is a way for women in the industry to network, develop and support one another in the cocktail community. The goal is to unite all the kick ass bartenders, servers, spirit reps and distillery employees in the area and to show the rest of Denver (and our male colleagues) what we’re all about. We don’t hope to change the world, just people’s perspective of women in this industry. Basically, we want to have some amazing parties, great competitions, and spectacular events to support our chosen charities and the women in Denver who sling drinks everyday! For more information on our mission, please visit lupec.org.

Please join us for an introductory event featuring cocktails, food and learn more about this new chapter…
